BEWARE of emails offering attendee lists

A wooden cube, like a dice but featuring an exclamation mark

If you receive an email offering to sell you an attendee list for an event, take great care as it is highly likely to be bogus.

These emails are almost always originating from outside the UK / EU so there is very little that can be done to stop them.

There are two things to bear in mind

  • Most event companies don’t sell or share attendee information with third parties.
  • Any that do offer visitor lists will almost certainly be the organisers of that event.

So if you do get such an email, it might be best to either check with the event organiser or just ignore it.

We have been advised that replying to these emails is not a good idea (unless you’ve checked with the event organiser e.g. by telephone, and you are absolutely certain it has come from them).

In terms of emails relating to our own events, we can confirm that we never sell or share attendee information. Not even with our event exhibitors.

We do send out a post-event email to our database – including event visitors – in which we list all exhibitors and give them an opportunity to share a short message. This enables the exhibitors to communicate with those who attended via us, without anyone’s details having to be shared.

If you ever have any concerns about an email you’ve received claiming to be from us, or relating to events we organise, please don’t hesitate to give us a call on 0151 709 8932.
